It’s been less than a week since rapper Lil Wayne (@liltunechi) turned himself in to begin serving a one year prison term, and so far, officials are making sure he’s isn’t being treated as a celebrity.
According to TMZ, the rapper (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) has been instructed by prison officials not to sign a single autograph while incarcerated.
A rep for the Correction Officer’s Benevolent Association told the site officials issued a no autograph mandate because “Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.”
The rep also said that since being locked up, Weezy hasn’t received any special treatment at Rikers Island. But, he hasn’t requested anything out of the ordinary either.
The rapper is serving one year for a gun charge stemming from a 2007 arrest.
If he’s good while behind bars, he could be out after serving just eight months.

Combat Jack (on his new blog at ihiphop) shares some insight from an alleged Riker’s Island employee about what life has been like in jail for Lil Wayne since his surrender on Monday….
“…he’s not in protective custody (PC), but in general population. But it’s not really a big thing. In prison, they treat all inmates like the next. He does have limited protection, meaning there is someone that stays with him at all times. But because of who he is, this is also the norm. There hasn’t been much activity with Wayne, especially since he’s busy undergoing the processing an inmate goes through immediately upon his incarceration. Paperwork, tests, all that. Tomorrow, they’ll be conducting DNA testing, specifically because his case centers around DNA evidence. The only thing out of the norm is the amount of calls the prison has been receiving from Wayne’s people, hounding them with questions about whether he’ll be forced to cut his hair…”
Jack’s corrections source also says that there has been disciplinary issues, not for Weezy the prisoner….but for the C.O.s??
“…A couple of guards have been written up, only because they’ve acted like fans, having more personal interaction with Wayne than is procedure, prolly acting all star struck, which, once again, the system does it’s best to discourage. Me getting this info and writing about it here puts my contact at risk of losing her job. Still, we do this for our culture. For the most part though, Wayne has been pretty quiet, staying mostly inside his jail cell. There doesn’t seem to be anyone, any faction trying to get at him in any harmful way, because he’s new and because he hasn’t violated any of the codes customary to inmate living the prison life. As I was told, it’s too early to determine how the rest of his experience will be, but so far, so good. It’s all in Lil Wayne’s hands.“
That’s it for now. According to Captain Jack, this is 100% percent fact. Stay tuned for further episodes @liltunechi’s Rikers Island Diary.
“DMX, aka Earl Simmons, was arrested in Arizona Tuesday for violating terms of his probation. DPS’s gang enforcement unit arrested Simmons at his probation officer’s office, for allegedly being in possession of crack cocaine. He was booked on five counts of probation violation. DMX has been arrested in five times in the past on drug charges, animal cruelty and theft, and is reportedly undergoing addiction treatment.”

Recent DMX News (Series of Events)
Feb 09, 2009 – Jail-plagued DMX was moved to “lockdown status” in Arizona’s Tent City Jail for one of the dumbest moves an inmate can make — dude threatened to fight the guards.
After X failed to report for his medication, officials say the former platinum rapper began cussing at officers and threatened to “assault somebody to get some respect.” He was immediately thrown into lockdown and punished with a “special diet that is a form of bread and water.”
Apr 24, 2009 – DMX was set to join the cast of ‘Celebrity Rehab’, following a 90-day stint in jail for a variety of offenses including drugs, fraud, and animal cruelty charges. He was the first celebrity to be announced for the upcoming series of the show, which was currently in its third season on VH1.
I never saw the show so I’m not sure if he followed through with it or not. I do know that even though he was sentenced to 90 days for the charges, he had to serve an extended sentence after an alleged assault on a prison employee over food. He threw a tray of food at the guard if I’m not mistaken…
May 01, 2009 – DMX was ordered by a New York judge to pay $240,000 in damages in a civil lawsuit. The judge ordered X to pay the fine in a suit brought by Sergei Priporin, who claimed that the he impersonated an FBI agent five years ago. He allegedly used a siren to pull over Proprin’s car in a parking lot at New York’s JFK Airport. Priporin accused DMX of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress during the incident. He originally sought $4 million in damages.
May 14, 2009 – DMX plans to start Christian TV Show. WHAT???
DMX is out of jail in Arizona after serving more than 90 days for drugs, fraud and animal cruelty charges.
While he was in prison, Simmons revealed he intends to start a Christian TV show when he gets out:
“I’m gonna start a TV show called ‘Pain and Perseverance’, it’s about how I can reach people that the average person can’t reach because I’m grounded,” he said, according to allhiphop.com. “I’m going to give my first sermon, in the church. That’s going to be incredible for me and hopefully the congregation of that church.”
Apparently, X and his entourage showed up 90 minutes late for this Charity Concert in Colorado Springs.
X, his bodyguards and fans eventually got into a shoving match with security in front of the stage, while the crowd — who had already been told he wasn’t going to show — chanted “DMX! DMX!”
He eventually got on stage — but the sound system was reportedly turned off so he couldn’t perform. In my opinion, the guards could have handled the situation better but at the same time, he shouldn’t have been 90 minutes late for such an important date.
Thirteen years ago today (March 9), Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace was gunned down in the streets of Los Angeles at the age of 24. In the time since the Brooklyn rapper’s passing, he’s become a musical icon, respected and loved by fans the world over. While his murder remains unsolved, Biggie’s legacy lives on through his music and even film with the release of last year’s biopic, Notorious. At the heart of the film was the story of a young man that survived the rough streets of his Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn neighborhood to become one of hip-hop’s most heralded artists. Despite his fame and fortune, Biggie never forgot where he came from, as he always represented BK to the fullest. That fact was made crystal clear on Jay-Z’s 1996 track, “Brooklyn’s Finest,” where Biggie and Jigga went flow for flow for the first time, resulting in a classic record that did their borough proud. With a big budget film recently borrowing its name from the monumental collaboration and today marking the anniversary of Big’s passing, XXLMag.com reached out to the legendary DJ Clark Kent—who produced “Brooklyn’s Finest”—to see how the record came to be, the day Biggie stopped writing his rhymes down and why we’ll always love Big Poppa.
