Hello. My name is FARM. I started this site back in 2003 with a goal of providing easy access to the newest underground DJ mixes and releases. With already having a musical background, I quickly hopped on board and started both spinning and producing… Hobbies I quickly fell in love with. The breakbeat scene has really died off significantly with hip-hop making a comeback. Our content has made a shift over the years and now focuses mostly on the latest hip-hop & electro music news and videos, as well as fashion & technology.

This site in no way intends to be a one-stop-shop for all hip-hop & electronic music news, showcases, media, fashion, etc. That would be simply impossible for us to attempt to cover. Instead we will simply highlight anything and everything we find noteworthy. It’s editorial control at it’s best. We welcome all types of mix submissions but cannot guarantee your mix will be posted.

I go by the name of Farm aka DJ FARM. I’ve been following and involved with the Asian American music scene since the early 2000′s. I can be snarky, I have a weird sense of humor, sometimes you just have to read between the lines, I speak with conviction and like to incorporate hard punchlines when explaining my love for food.

Why did you name your blog HoustonWok? Houston is where I live, Houston is where I will rest my head, and Houstons Asian dining scene is what I intend to expose. Many Asian restaurants use woks to cook their food and therefore I thought HoustonWok (its one word) sounded like a perfect fit. More so, there’s always something cooking in the wok.
